Welcome and thanks for visiting my web page! The Horticultural Science research program at the Southern Research and Outreach Center was first established in 1985 to provide research-based information to the commercial vegetable crop industry throughout the state. The program was primarily targeted on addressing the needs of the vegetable processing industry that is concentrated in the lower half of Minnesota and the fresh market industry statewide. See our Vegetable Research page for more details on projects that are currently underway. More recent research efforts have focussed on manipulating production strategies in both vegetable and herb crops for enhanced phytonutrient content. See our Nutraceutical page for more information.  Conceivably, any production practice that can effectively manipulate the plant's environment may play a role in changing phytonutrient concentration and their profiles within the plant.
